mooncake fest

These lovely pictures of last mooncake festival were met by accident, while i was looking all over for our GruvAvénue group pictures. The mooncake fest which is held on every fifteen of month number eight according to the chinese lunar calendar fell on sept eighteen this year, which was also vincent's birthday. After the reunion dinner, the fun begun with all the kids, namely vincent's nephews and nieces, started their lantern lighting sessions. It's very easy. First, lit the candles. Put it on top of the candle holder within the lantern. Slowly lift the paper rim. Wow! An instant lantern! Repeat the process, and lit all the lanterns you've brought. And beware of fire.
The legend story revolving around the moon, the rabbit, the tree-cutter, and of course, no story is ever complete without a female lead - the beautiful chang-er, is proven to be a myth, since the astronaut Neil A. Armstrong landed on the moon surface in year 1969. But this tradition does has its' wonder! It brings us together and reminds us to spend time with our beloved ones and family, not forgetting the most important part - we really really love the seasonal pameloes, tiny yams, diabetes-prone mooncakes and luminious lanterns.
